I am nothing but a small creature in God’s Almighty creation. Farming has always been part of my DNA. Perhaps I was born in a sheep pen. Over the years, I have developed a variety of skills. As a child on the farm, as a student in an Agricultural School, and as a farmer on a farm. Diverging from traditional farming has been to my advantage. Years of studies and growth in a business led to the founding of my own family business. Ultimately, I merged business and farming into a long-held vision. I built an Ultra-Intensive Sheep Farming operation where every square meter of land must be utilized, where each sheep must form a profitable part of the larger farming business. To maximize the potential of each well-cared-for, happy animal by combining years of business experience, research, and practical exposure in an Ultra-Intensive system. The core of my farming was breeding an ewe that could maintain a weaning percentage above 215%. To start, I had to travel the country to acquire specific genetics. Sometimes hundreds of kilometres for just one animal, but exactly the genetics I sought. I started with 25 ewes and through years of further research and a 24/7 breeding approach, I first reached my goal of 64 highly fertile production ewes, which later grew to 300 animals on 4 hectares. I made some costly mistakes that took months to correct, but I eventually established a farming methodology that was profitable and met all business requirements. After years of fulfilling this dream, the Good Lord dealt me the Multiple Myeloma card. I could no longer farm, but I could use the time to share all my experiences in this book.
